Kiddo Parties | Pokemon |
I didn’t understand until I had a kid in school how much influence their friends would have on them. This definitely came into effect with party ideas. When we asked our almost six year old what he would want for his 6th birthday party theme he said “Pokemon”. I was so confused because we had never need anything Pokemon, we had never played Pokemon so how is he now wanting his 6th birthday party to be a Pokemon theme? I quickly realized just like StarWars, (which we have also never seen) advertising and peer pressure is defiantly working on my kids.
I didn’t grow up playing Pokemon or knew anything about the characters so more research went into this party than ones in the past. I would encourage you to not shut down a theme idea just because you aren’t an expert or have knowledge of it. This party ended up being pretty simple and super fun for us to do.
Location: Carter wanted to be able to invite all his classmates which then made our home not an option for the location. We decided to rent out the Seattle Children’s Museum which we had been to a past party at. Our children’s museum Seattle is very overwhelming to me as a parent with more than one kid. It’s a location that only has one door in and out yet so many different rooms that if you have kids with different interests and go in different directions you are not able to watch them all by yourself. Yet, when you rent out the museum for an after hour party you have the WHOLE museum to yourself. They set up tables for you right by the entrance so the parents can hang out all together and the kids can go where ever you want with no stress since there is no possible way for them to leave without you knowing or getting taken. Yes, we live in the city and have to worry about random strangers taking our kids.
Invitation: We had our incredible talented friend so all our digital designs and signs for the party. We were able to just email all his classmates the invite and then I put my contact info on the bottom for them to RSVP.
Party Favors: I bought blank red and white trucker hats on amazon and then with my Silhouette cutting machine cut Pokemon ball vinyl iron-on logos. It was super easy and I love to give take home gifts that someone can actually use or the parents aren’t just going to throw away when they get home. Unique take home gifts can make a simple party everyone remembers. I accidentally got send adult hats the first time and amazon told me just to keep them so we ended up making hats for the adults and all the kids who came.
